Customer Reviews

First off, I want to express my disappointment in the misleading bad reviews for this mouse. Yes, there were some issues with this mouse when it was first released. Razer has since fixed all of them with firmware updates. So, did the folks who originally left bad reviews come back to update the status to "fixed"? Nope. So, that leads the consumer to believe that this product is terrible, when in fact Razor has address their customers concerns and feedback and worked quickly to resolve them. I DID my homework and it took a whopping 5 minutes. Once I received the mouse, the first thing I did was read the instructions on how to properly set up the docking station and mouse. Next, I went straight to the Razer website ([...]) and downloaded two software updates; 1) "Razer_Mamba(2012)_FirmwareUpdater_v1.04" and 2) "Razer_Mamba_Driver_v2.00". Razer has issued three firmware updates to the base and the mouse since it was released earlier this year to address some of the issues that have been pointed out in some of the reviews. The current version for both the base and the mouse firmware versions is v1.04. Both the mouse and base I received required updating; the base came with firmware version v1.01 installed and the mouse had firmware version v1.02 installed. The process was simple and the software program walked me through the entire process with easy to understand instructions. Both the base and the mouse are now updated to firmware version 1.04 and work flawlessly both in wired and wireless modes. The software drivers for the mouse enabled a lot of different functionalities to include the ability to creat profiles, adjust the "on-the-fly" DPI setting and number of DPI steps (1 through 5 steps are selectable), and yes change the color eminated by the base and the mouse and there is a large amount of colors available for selection, or you can even select the color to cycle throughout the entire color range.
So, here are the Pros and Cons of the Razer 2012 Mamba mouse:
PROs
- Mouse ergonomics are excellent and feels natural
- Mouse management software easy to install and setup - make sure to go to the [...] website for the latest version; both software drivers and firmware versions!
- Mouse wireless performance is flawless - and yes, 6400 DPI is now fully supported in wireless mode Most likely, this issue was resolved with the firmware updates
- Mouse wired performance is flawless - this is to be expected!
- Mouse can be charged either through the base (when docked), or when connected in wired mode using the included USB cable - this allows for the greatest amount of versatility that allows you to take the mouse with you on the go without requiring the need to take the base stand
- Ability to create profiles for individual games and store up to five profiles on the mouse - you can even change the associated color to particular games if you want! And yes, the mouse will autoswitch to the pre-programmed profile for a particular game when it's launched (autoswitch mode is optional, so you will need to select this for each profile)
- Mouse software allows you the option to show the DPI setting on screen - this is very useful when gaming so you aren't guessing which DPI setting is currently selected! This is also an option that the user can turn on or off
- DPI settings range from 100 through 6400! I particularly like this because it provides a 100 DPI setting for sniping in FPS games which I prefer over 200 DPI. In comparison, the Logitech G700 and G500 mice only offer a 200 DPI to 5700 DPI range
- Battery life is outstanding at an average of 8 hours! And power management options are available through the software - profiles can be designed to include sleep mode activation when no activity is present (inactivity time can be adjusted by 1 minute increments) and the brightness of the LED on the mouse can be lowered to safe battery life (each step of brightness equals 1 hour of battery life)
CONs
- Mouse and base will most likely require firmware updates - so this will slow you down from being able to use your mouse immediately right out of the box
- DPI buttons are in a slightly awkward postion and takes some getting use to as you may have a tendency to click the left mouse button when trying to change DPI settings. With some practice and time spent using the mouse, this becomes less of an issue
- Overall cost of the mouse is a bit high for most folks to take in - the Logitech G700 is a great alternative and sells for about $40 less - I own both, so I am not biased as to which I like more (except for the DPI range) ;)
CONCLUSION: Razer has done it again! Just when you thought the original Mamba couldn't have been improved, Razer comes out with a worth successor. If you are looking for a wireless gaming mouse with a great amount of versatility and high quality, look no further! Just make sure to do your homework before getting the mouse. The investment is well worth it and you will not be disappointed.

I was purchased this by my amazing wife for a christmas gift. My first request for support was January 6th.
The mouse would do random jumps. It is annoying and made playing games not fun at all. I have spent hours collecting tests and proof that this is happening. Finally, razer support told me to return it for a replacement. I was optimistic, yet skeptical.
Today I got the new mouse. After a few hours of use, it started to exibit the exact same issues. I have been putting together more tests to show I am not crazy.
I even searched youtube for people with the same issue. This is the best one to show what is goign on: edited youtube linke just youtube mamba 2012 tracking issue.. you will see what I am having issues with. I don't care that it jumps when I lift the mouse. I care that when I use the mouse in normal operation, it jumps.
I have video after video and paint canvas savings after paint canvas showing this same issue.
Please be careful when you purchase this product. I have contacted razer support for a refund. I will update when they get back to me.
IT IS SO FRUSTRATING!
updated
After updating the firmware of the mouse, everything worked perfect. I played for hours last night and had no tracking issue. I feel confident that once the firmware is released there will be a LOT of happy customers.
Thanks for making good razer.
